EMU OIL, WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
HOW DOES EMU OIL WORK?
Emu oil is rich in oleic acid (omega 9), linoleic acid (omega 6) and linolenic acid (omega 3), as well as containing vitamins A, E, D & K2.
These essential fatty acids help inhibit the cyclo-oxygenase enzyme, which is responsible for pain and inflammation. Emu oil works naturally in a similar way to non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs.
STRUCTURAL NEEDS
Emu oil is advantageous in comparison to other oils as it contains no phosphorus molecules. Phosphorus molecules are not able to be absorbed by our skin as we are phospholipid deficient. The absence of phosphorus in emu oil allows it to penetrate all 7 layers of skin.
FUNCTIONAL NEEDS
Emu oil is hypo-allergenic and allergic reactions are rare, because the essential fatty acid profile so closely resembling the profile of our skin. Our bodies cannot produce the essential fatty acids found in Emu oil so supplementation is necessary. Emu oil is non-polar monounsaturated fatty acid that allows it to move through cells more easily. It is made up of both short and long chain fatty acids, providing the benefits of both, which is a desirable but an uncommon trait.
